I have been known to dip in and out of meditation over the years. When I lived alone in Dubai and was working a high pressure corporate job, I made sure I woke up at 5am each day to get my meditation and morning run in before work. However, since then life has got in the way and, although I keep hearing of the benefits I just hadn't 'got around to it.'
However, with all this COVID-19 induced stress, I have been racking my brain for ways to reduce anxiety and stress. So I thought I would give it a go. So this morning, I woke up early, and, staying in bed rather than running through all the worries and ruining the day before it even started, I meditated.
I took deep breath's and repeated to myself in my head 'Live deeply in the present moment.' I must have done this for at least one hour. 15 minutes is, however, all that is advised as necessary.
No word of a lie, I had a meditation - induced brainwave!! Like a lightbulb going on, a question I have been mulling over in my mind for a few weeks was magically answered! I was so excited!!
So herein lies the advice for this fine, lockdown, Sunday. You can meditate by walking, sitting or lying, you just need to be comfortable and not disturbed. Breathe deeply. You can either listen to a guided meditation, or some calming music, or repeat a mantra over in your mind like I did - but the point is just to give yourself that inward focused time each morning.
You may be surprised at what your mind conjures!
