Stage shots are in !! One of the things that kept me motivated throughout the prep for my first ever show was seeing the ‘final product’ on stage. Here it is!!
I am truly proud of myself, that despite being new to training & lockdowns most of last year and up until April, I still had the confidence to follow through and get up on stage and go my thing. Age 33 I got up there completely natural & competed against much younger & far more experienced athletes …
People ask what’s the hardest part? The constant denying yourself of things that are not on the plan especially at social occasions. Day to day when working etc it’s not so hard but when you go to a social event the discipline you need is phenomenal!
People ask if the girls are friendly ? Most of them really were ! Just a small group of mean girls which is to be expected !
Did I enjoy it ? I enjoyed the novelty of it, the buzz, getting glammed up, looking my best and my second time on stage. First time wasn’t enjoyable as I just felt so nervous I could have thrown up.
Would I do it again ? Yes. I’ve learnt a lot from this experience… I know now what improvements I need to make , and I’ll take at least 3 years training and improving my weak areas before I commit to another show. I would also choose a different category from bikini as I think my build is more athletic than petite. It’s very consuming, makes life very dull for a while and if you’re going to do it you need at least 12 months to fully commit.
It really does take over your life and makes you a very boring person for a while. But the discipline it teaches you is incredible. And I’ve managed to wean myself off Diet Coke and peanut butter thanks to peak week 😂
