STARTING YOUR HEALTH JOURNEY - WEEK 3

Welcome back to my 8 week series on How To Start Your Very Own HEALTH JOURNEY!!

If you've read the previous blogs / watched the IGTV's (on instagram Vanessaphoenix____) you'll see that so we have covered the following healthy habits:

  1. Drinking a minimum of 2 litres of water a day,

  2. Eating breakfast before 9am,

  3. Walking 30-45 minutes a day, preferably outside,

  4. Consistently eating 3 meals and 2 healthy snacks a day.

I have also uploaded 2 15 minute beginner home workouts for you on my YouTube (Vanessa Jakubowski) to get you started on the exercise.

This week I want to talk about protecting yourself from constant temptation by cleaning out your kitchen cupboards!! Whatever is in the kitchen, WILL GET EATEN!! Even those with the best intentions, like myself, will find themselves headed for the biscuits, or leftover chocolates, or birthday cake or whatever it is if it is in there!

HACKS / SWITCHES...

* Switch fizzy drinks for the diet versions

* Get rid of all juices - they are packed full of sugar!

* Get rid of crisps - they are empty calories and completely unsatisfying

* Swap large slaps of chocolate for smaller individual packets - that way its easier to eat one at a time rather than more than you intended

* Switch large packets of biscuits of individual packets of corn thins or rice cakes which you can have with peanut butter or low sugar jam

* FRESH is better than FROZEN and FROZEN is better than CANNED!! Clear all the boxes of processed over food out and replace with fresh meat and fish to cook!!

Be aware of the liquid calories in drinks, beer, alcohol etc - we are trying to get our calories from satisfying sources which will do us some good and avoiding empty calories as much as possible.

Finally - close the kitchen after dinner!!!You can easily add an extra 500 calories mindlessly snacking after dinner... once you have enjoyed your dinner, close the door until breakfast :)

SLEEP/REST

We must get into the habit of sleeping 7+ hours per night. Sleep improves every single physiological process in your body. You will be SMARTER, more muscular, LEANER, better looking, HEALTHIER! You will reduce bloating and water retention. Set a bedtime, prioritise your evening routine and if you need to reduce blue light from electrical goods one hour earlier. Try taking a zinc magnesium supplement, or even better CBD (I have an amazing CBD I swear by for sleep and relaxation, let me know if you want the details.) Get more sleep!

and check out the IGTV on my instagram here:

Let me know if you have any questions!!
